hi all my name is deller im a new member and looking forward to getting to no my quack brothers out there. i recently passed my bike test and for my 1st bike i purchsed "precious" my 1991 kawasaki zx 400 h and after 3 weeks of bliss the throttle cables snapped and now im having real difficulty getting an open and a closing throttle cable every dealer says oh mmm hmmmm deeeeer no kawasaki dont make them any more son sorry about that try e bay. and the breakers arnt much help either dont suppose any one on here would have had a similer problem and be able to help.

i had the same problem mate, could'nt find anyone who would sell me a new throttle cable.
I ended up making my own inner, and used the original outer. you can buy the kits on ebay.

cheers jake i only got one of the outers the other has gone AWOL i tried to make my own from a bicycle break cable but if i touch the throttle it revs out. far to dangerous even for me. nice of you to reply mate

mm, do you have a zxr400 sp model?
Mine is a H model too, but i have a single cable for my throttle. do you have flatslides on yr bike?

im not sure if its an sp model jake to be honest there was only one cable on my bike but it worked fine untill it snapped its just you can see where the other cable,s ment to go. im busting to get her back on the road
if i new what length the cables were i could probably manufacture somehing.

merseyside mate.
The bit i found was a pain on mine, was the plastic curved section that go's into the throttle housing, it guides the cable around to the inner twist bit, if ya get me. That snapped on mine, had a spare tho... Im gonna stick a quick action throttle on mine over the christmas season, do away with that plastic thing, and get a nice fresh cable on.

Welcome to the forum Deller, shame they have started to faze out parts for the H model, didt think think they had started doing that just yet but oh well.
Anyways were here to help, as jake has already done so (well done buddy), so any more questions just ask away. I thought the bycicle cable idea would have been perfect, you can buy them way longer than you need em. If you need to know where the cables are routed check the manual here

i think we might just have got it sorted,"fingers crossed" i sent an e-mail round 50 breakers and it seems to have struck gold they say they have what i need and there gonna stick them in the post tomorrow. so i hope there the right parts.finding this forum emensly usefull and a big thanks to jake and robb for taking the time to reply.
