possible engine mod
Hi all ive got a ZXR400 l model and was wondering how easy it would be to drop a 600 engine in the chassis from my mates 600 ninja as hes just had a small acident on it ,the reason beaing is my engine doesent run to smooth ,ive been told it needs the carbs setting up and its not the oringinal engine anyway
my mates 600 is the same year as mine (95)
Would it be possible ?????? or could it be possible ???
any help please

Re: possible engine mod
i'm sure if you can get a blade engine in a zxr400 frame you can get a 600 in.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Re: possible engine mod
very true, i was looking over both engines and the 400 has the same mounting points as the 6 but would i need to change or chop the wireing loom or could i just change the coils ?

Is that your bike mate? That belonged to someone on here. I recognise where the stickers were placed.

Re: possible engine mod
think your insurance would go sky high putting a 6 in a 4 frame, ie presuming you will tell them?

Re: possible engine mod
I've been looking into this for the last year or so...(yet to find the room to acutally do it). Zim iirc didnt fit the engine hiself he brought the bike that way, it was a zzr600 engine as well i think.
Persoanaly id use the 636 engine and use the loom from that (try and get it with all the sensors ect still atached). Its then just a case of fitting it to the bike.
I will do mine somday just waiting for all the parts to fall into place

ZX6r F3 actually, .. and the mounts are close, if close means about 3" out. there isnt a single original mount that can be used.
636 needs the main spars cutting down to make space for the FI .. afaik, F3 engine just needs the coil brackets removed so that removing spark plugs isnt "engine out"
