Master cylinder?

My front brake doesn't seem to be taking up the play
It's got new pads + fluid, don't believe there is any air in there (also did the same b4 i changed the fluid), but it doesn't start braking until really close to the handle bar. Braking power doesn't seem to be affected, just the point at which is brakes.
Could this be the master cylinder allowing the fluid back again when the lever is let out?

we rebuilt Gems master cylinder with new piston/spring and seals and it made no difference.

If it's not the master cylinder then i don't have a clue what it could be.
I used to be fine, but gradually deteriorated over time, thought it was just the pads + fluid that needed re-doing, but yet it reverts back a couple of weeks later once the pads are bedded in.

I think i have got braided lines, i didn't fit them but i remember something said about them when i bought it. Also i don't think the standard ones are blue .

Discs are worn a little, but not excessively, don't think they're outside of the limits.

We just had our MOT done and the tester reckons that all Kawas brakes are like this to some extent or other. He says he contacted Kawa and they basically shrugged and admitted that it happens, but they have no solution to it.

Our front has disks in good condition, new callipers, standard lines (must remember to buy that double banjo bolt) and brand new fluid.
It's a bit worrying when you start squeezing and nothing starts to happen until just as you start to think "Oh Fuuuuu,,,,,,,,"!

i have read thru a lot of zx7r forums and the general solution is to put a bigger m/c on the bike, basically so more fluid can b moved with less movement at the lever,

i hear the zxr750 m/c is bigger than the zx7r so i may plug for one of those

but tbh, the power of my 6pots are amazing when they come on, and i am getting used to having a little more play in lever than i was used to

Also be aware that any suckage on a nipple can draw air in through the nipple's thread, in which case you'll never see an end to bubbles appearing in the bleed-pipe. The only solution to that is thread-tape

I have the same problem only really started after i put braided lines on,
If i take the callipers off push the pads back bolt it all back up pump the lever so the pads touch the disc it sorts it out for about a two weeks,
Bit of a pain in the backside but it only takes 5 min's to do

I have the same problem. My brakes are utter toad if I'm honest. But they get better as the bike is ridden. They've been like it since it was bought and has since had new fluid and pads. No real difference.

have you all tried the trick of tieing the brake lever back over night, then in the morning tap all the brake lines to make any air bubbles rise to the resevoir. Then untie and you should find that they stiffen up a bit. Doesn't last long (maybe a week or so) but then you can leave it tied on every night if you wish. Give it a try!!
