I'm fitting restrictors as I type guys, anyone help?
Hey guys. Well, I've got the fairings, tank, airbox and the top of the carbs off, can anyone post me a picture up of exactly how the restrictor washers are supposed to sit in them?
I'm stumped.

they go between the carbs and the cylinder head mate, not in the carbs themselves

Ah, bugger, more to come off yet then.zimm wrote:they go between the carbs and the cylinder head mate, not in the carbs themselves
No wonder I can't figure out where they sit...
Still, anyone who can dredge up a picture of the washers sitting where they sit, as it were, I'll owe a lolipop.

Lol. Might have to do it in reverse. I was too anxious to get cracking, and I didn't think about taking pics....masterofinsanity wrote:don't forget to take pics too and do a write up.
There's a fuji sitting next to me though, I'll grab that and get some.

i wouldn't have thought you can put them on wrong due to the shape of them.

*laughs* I was trying, believe me. I'll get some photos in reverse of bits as I put them back on. It'll work. Promise.
Razzing home on Pat's bike now, to get the manual.
*Edit* Second thoughts, can someone tell me how the sweet f**k I'm supposed to get at the allen bolts that hold the carbs onto the inlet? There's no way in hell I'm gonna be able to get either end of an Allen key in there...

Ok, sorted now, carbs are off - undid the jubilees holding the rubbers to the underside of the carb assy itself, and that gives me the room I need to get at the allen bolts. The write up isn't going to be spot on, Baz, Zimm tells me they're not meant to be allen bolts, and all my photos are of the allen bolts. Not a great difference though, I suppose, just substitute them for whatever's holding the rubbers onto the inlet.
Gotta take a break for the moment though, I'll be finishing it off in about an hour or so.

im confused now .. lol
were you talking about the bolts in the jubilee's ? or the bolts that hold the inlet stubs to the head ?
bolts in jubilee's should be phillips head,(pic 1) but get replaced by allen bolts by folks when they round off.. makes them a sod to remove.
bolts holding stubs to the head (pic 2) should be allen key.

Right. All is sorted gents, and I've got a myriad of photos which I'll sift through later on, and post up as detailed a write up as I can. I lost a couple of parts though.
The spacer for the bolt holding the clip on the choke cable housing went down and inside somewhere, and one of the fairing bolts did too, but we've sorted it all out.
The jubilees I was on about are on the top of the rubber trumpets the washers are placed under, and they were phillips head. I got those undone and then was able to remove the whole carb assy in order to get at the allen bolts holding the trumpets to the inlet itself.
I think I've managed to get photos of more or less everything except the washers sitting on the inlet, which I intended to, as we came back up from downtown to find my friend's dad had already whacked them in and slapped some sealant on. I got some of looking down into the inlet with the washers inside.
Going for a ride now, and then a barbecue, I'll do the write up when I next sit down at my computer. Thanks for the help guys!
Oh, and Zimm, I owe you a lollipop!
