Simple, when your down on the slider, if you lean into the corner even more your knee will be pushed close to the bike. Ive done it beofre, you simply push your knee back out and it brings the bike up, it just helps when your cranked over that far and your trying to haul the bike back up.

Actually you DO go around corners faster with your knee down - that's why racers do it!

OK, that's not strictly true, but it's all about transferring weightby hanging off changing your centre of gravity, meaning you have more available grip, as you can keep the bike more upright at the same speed as someone not hanging off.

The actual knee-down itself is a result of the technology meaning higher lean angles can be achieved than when nobody raced knee-down - the reason being the tyres, ground clearance, suspension and overall bike geometry would not have allowed it before.

In practice, on the roads, most people riding knee-down WILL be riding slower simply because they are trying to scrape their knee, and so they tighten their line to achieve the lean angle rather than that same lean angle and hanging off being done for the necessity of getting around the corner.

I thin I've bored myself. :smt009
Who needs tyres when you've got knees!!

Never ceases to amaze me how much attention by-products of riding styles seem to get :smt003

Whatever happened to just going faster than everyone else and getting on peoples nerves?

The trouble with having an open mind, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
