revs hang no more!
Well I finally got it sorted!
There seems to be quite a few people who have had the problem of revs not dropping off and here is how I got it sorted...... Firstly welded up all the holes in the downpipes. Then cleaned the carbs thoughout. I got four new inlet rubbers from cradley kawasaki for £30 delivered, theese were fitted and it was obvious how worn the old ones were compared to the newun's. The rubbers were I think what made the bigest difference. Carbs back on and balenced, then a fiddle with the mixture (now 2.5 turns out) and it is going better then I have ever had it!

As you say, alot of people here seem to have this problem. Out of interest how much were the rubbers?

They Were £30 Delivered for all 4, Which I think is good value as Some carb parts are nearly £100 each which is expensive when you need 4!. Plus cradley had them in stock and delivered them next day.

nice one
so it was essentially an intake leak causing the "hanging" then ?

they were out 4 turns but this was a set of carbs I got off ebay. I paid £15 for them and they are in great condition.

It would certainly explain why I've found it's happened on all my older bikes...rene wrote:did the old rubers have holes in them? how were they worn? Like you said seems to be quite common fault

Re: revs hang no more!
basically when you let go of the throttle it should return to idle speed, but sometimes things can cause them to stick around 2k revs

yh ok sound for that, my revs are ok then, i thought it was the amount of time it took for the revs to return to idle.
never give up!

Re: revs hang no more!
well they've just cost me £11.13 plus vat each. Now i make that about £52. Now i mentioned the website and everything, so whats going on there? Big difference between £30 and £50.
Mine were for an L3 if maybe that made a difference, but i thought all UK bikes had 32mm carbs, so all the rubbers should be the same.
Grrrrr
