ZXR Turbo
i noticed whilst browsing the net on how to make my ZXR even faster i happend to look at the little 250 ZXR and i found a site that has turbo'd one it makes something like 80 or so horsepower at 11lbs of boost. and well i emailed the malaysians about the kits etc and apparantly they are doing a ZXR 400 turbo. so i may get a turbo kit BUT! insurance will ermmmmm well be sky high. but thats if i decide to go through with it. just thought id tell you guys incase anyone was thinking about it. or does anybody know where else they do turbo kits! cheers

Re: ZXR Turbo
Thats funny the other day my mate was saying hes got a small turbo in his garage and we was talking about trying to get it on one of our bikes, looks like it could be done quite a bit off work though keep us posted if you find out any more.

Re: ZXR Turbo
haha seems like we all share the idea. i have been speaking to the malaysians and well its kind of hard to understand them over the phone. they called me so didnt waste any of my money. they have turbo'd a ZXR H and apparantly it produces 93.6 hp at 6psi or something like that. i THINK!. but i spoke to them about the L model and they are starting to create a turbo ZXR on the 23rd of july. so its a waiting game. im kind of excited
insurance arent going to know anything else i WONT be valid lol! how many others here are thinking or have thought about the turbo?

Re: ZXR Turbo
will they work on a 400 tho dude? i know they have built one, but does it work? and if it does, for how long?
93 bhp is a lot for the little zxr to take. Id deffo say, get the best clutch money can buy! and some big spacers on the springs...slip central
The only thing ive heard about turbo bikes is they tend to work better with bigger engines, hence most turbos on busas', which makes me wonder about the 400, and the possible lag then the rods snapping, piston valve mating, etc...

Re: ZXR Turbo
if they can package well enough a turbo small enough to not suffer badly from lag considering the small displacement..
and you built a low compression (8:1?) engine with L9 conrods and limited it to .. say .. 13,500rpm ?
it'd be a giggle .. and may not even blow up all that soon ..

I told my insurance I had a 600 engine in a zxr400, and my insurance .. DROPPED ! as they see it as a zx6r with aftermarket bodywork, which devalues it, and the early ZX6r is a lower risk than a zxr400..
random eh ?
