planning a long trip

Post by T180985 »

im planning a long trip from Farnborough, Hampshire to Edinburgh, Scotland on my ZXR400 now obviously a 450mile trip isnt going to be hugely comfortable on the zxr so i just wondered if you guys and girls could recommend any anything to help make the long ride a little more comfortable? can you get seat pads etc as currently 45miles really starts to kill me off. thanks

try stuffing a pillow down the backside of your leathers :smt003

sounds like a blast thoe. i always thought the seat was nicely padded on the ZXR anyhout.

hope the ride goes well for ya.

done a trip that long before on the zxr and was fine, my advice is grin and bear it (the zxr should help with the grinning part..) Plus you have to stop regulary for fuel anyway so thats time to strech out!

as rene said, just put up with it, you've got to stop every hundred miles or so anyway. Just concentrate on how much more fun you'll be having on the twisty bits than if you'd been riding a big armchair of a bike.
In the garage:
Kawasaki ZXR400 L3 - shiny
Suzuki DR800 - bouncy

Kawasaki GPz500S - for sale soon

me and baz did lands end to john ogroats, him on the gixxer me on an '04 blade. neither especially comfortable bikes

i thought it would b my butt and wrists that would suffer but it was actually my knees.

after a while u just forget the pain, especially with all the gorgeous scottish scenery around you,

we stopped every 70mile approx, mainly cuz bazs bike wont do more on a tank of fuel,

The best tip I can give is to keep moving around on the bike. Stretch your legs, stand up on your pegs occasionally, shift your weight around and generally vary your riding position.

oh and keep yourself hydrated!

450miles really isnt that much. I did the best part of 800 on the gixer in 24 hours when I did the national rally.
