Re: speed camera trouble !!!!!
So... you're not worried about doing 60 through the camera, but you are worried about doing less than that?
Am I the only one in the befuddled corner?

Re: speed camera trouble !!!!!
Yeah they are front facing, but they are starting to have one facing forward and one of them rear facing too, at least the ones near me are anyway.
Also, you cant speed up in between these cameras and not get caught, they are average speed cameras, so they measure your average speed over a fixed distance. Soon as you pass through the first SPECS camera you numberplate goes on a data base, then when you pass through the next one itll get your plate again and compare the time its taken to travel from camera number one to camera number two, which is a fixed distance, and can therefore calculate your average speed.
I wouldnt worry about it, most are forward facing but you could go back and see if there are any rear facing to help you make ya mind up.

there's cameras at various places through the variable speed limit bit, but they're all bog standard gatsos.

It SAYS they have them around the Donnington stretch, but I've never seen them... they could be mobile...
Word is, with these average speed cameras, the way to fool them is to change lanes.

i did the length of the M42 pinned flat out whilst trying to diagnose a fuel starvation issue .. never got a ticket, so i guess they are forward facing

[edited to add: there were some on that end of the '42 when they were doing roadworks. But they're gone now.]
Millions of the things around Nottingham and out towards Grantham though.
And as ever, the "word" is an urban myth. Try this at your peril.Jamz wrote: Word is, with these average speed cameras, the way to fool them is to change lanes.

LOL thats 1 of them things aint it. whos first to try it lol.
i think you could get away if you get right up the butt of the car in front before the cams however theres always that chance that they got you anyway.
thats a thought thoe you could hide behind an 18wheeler.

Yeah - couldn't remember if the signs were on the M42 or the A42... Something about 'speed time trial' zone. Even that wording is a bit sneaky, if you ask me! It just makes me think of the Isle Of Mann!
What I have heard of happening on the stretch of M42 with the overhead cameras and temporary speed limits, if someone is really taking the piss the people in the control room can activate three or four cameras in a row, so you'll be losing your license.
