I was just quoted about £150 - £170 for the restrictor kit itself, and then four hours labour on top of that. Mind you, I did ask the chap about cam chain, and he whinged and moaned about there being no information on imports available to him, and generally acted like he didn't want to do it.
Atm, I'm thinking I'll be looking at Elliots' in Cricklade, a couple of my friends have used them and reckon them to be fair.
Anyone have a much cheaper set of restrictor washers than that, because that seems pretty extortionate to me...
I think I'll also be sourcing the parts myself, because I was also quoted £53 for the cam chain, and I'm sure that's gotta be too much...
Anyone?

Absolutely do not pay the money to get it restricted, but a second hand set from someone from the forum, or failing that i know an ebay seller who has a second hand set who offered me it for £30, I bought mine off lindaloo about 2 weeks ago and just fitted it myself. Im only 17 and have just meddled with bikes, not a mechanic or anything. Its not too hard to do, i can give advice and info as im sure many others can as well. Btw the documentation is unneccesary, if the police ask for proof that its restricted just say you fitted them yourself, if they want to pursue the issue then they have to prove it doesnt have them fitted, in which case as long as they are in you're laughing :D Hopefully just saved you about 150 there. Less than an hours work mate to fit

I realise how easy they are to fit, and I've no fear of diving in (except perhaps with the timing oriented jobs, hence my hunting for a garage to do the cam chain), it was just the getting hold of them, and the legality without the paperwork to prove they are fitted that was the issue for me, tbh. £150 odd for 4 washers is flaming robbery, so I thought get it, do it myself, and fill the paperwork out myself, if I can get hold of it without paying £150 for that...

Can't you make your own washers the right size? Just ask anyone who has taken there's out to measure the internal and external diameter and then buy some from B+Q

I thought the washers were perfectly round. How do you get the right angle from that photo? Is the photo traced in which case it could be scaled to size and made like that. I'm thinking of finding somewhere that can make me a few and sell em on eBay.

Can I get a 'HOLY THREAD REVIVAL, BATMAN!!'?

Just struck me, and browsing, this popped up.

Worth looking into do we reckon, fellas?

*Edit* F**k it I'm in a splurge mood, I've just bought them. I'll let you know how I get on, guys, as I ought to be taking the bike into Cricklade within a week or two, tops.

I bought a set of the above from the ebay seller to put into my brothers bike, they are an exact copy (i checked mine). The price is fair and they arrive fast.

That's really good to hear, dude, thanks! With any luck, I can get the price of the service well down then, get them to just whack the washers in while the carbs are off for little or no extra, and then dyno it.

PLAN!
