No Idea,

Speedo is 'taped' off over 70mph - No real 'need' to know how fast I am going if I am going over that :pmsl

Sounds like classic carb ice to me. What's not well understood is that icing conditions are worse during warm weather as, I'll save you the long boring explanation, warm air can absorb more moisture then cold air and so has more moisture to deposit in the inlets than cold air.

Often, just pulling over and letting the residual heat from the engine warm the carbs is sufficient to clear the problem. On older machinery, the easy fix was to pull over, whip out the old man, and hose off the carb with a warm jet of your finest :smt003 . Girls often struggled with this remedy....

Has it happened since?

Mick.

i had the same problem. i picked mine up for the 1st time and it seemed sweet. opened her up. when i backed off then then wound her back on......she hesitated and made a sort of buzzing sound, like it was starved of fuel. immidiately felt or hoped, the fuel filter is getting blocked up. so i did it few times to sort of see if it would do it again. it did it everytime! since it was a long journey i had to stop for fuel...... once i put fresh fuel in. problem was sorted. Think im just going to put it down to the fuel been stood for a bit maybe??????
