Newbie with a ninja

Post by Barks »

To cut a story short and to give you a bit of background I'v wanted a ZXR4 for about 4 years now and when i turned 21 recently i finally took the step to go out and get my bike license and buy myself a pocket size ninja. Its been 2 months since i passed the test and despite the unpredictable weather its been an absolute blast! Honestly don't think i could have picked a better first bike, looks great, sounds great and from the first couple of track days I'v gathered it handles pretty well too. Over the moon with it so far.
Was tempted by the fact that it had been lady owned for the past 7 years and has been restricted the entire time so the engines had a fairly easy life. However, she left it to rot in a soggy garage for an awful long time so it was in dire need of a bit of TLC so since these pictures its had a full showroom detail, major 2 day service and its been de-restricted so its showroom smooth again. Anyway here's the details and a couple of pics.

Any suggestions for tyres? I'm thinking a set of Bridgestone bt 090's although they are fairly pricey. Any decent alternatives that don't break the bank quite as much?

Very nice !! :D and tyres i had pirelli dragons, which were like glue in the dry but in the wet they had an evil side to them ;) but talking to mu cousen who rides bike everyday for a living said bridgstone bt120 i believe they are, he said are a real step forward.

Yeh there's an awful lot of a love for the Bridgestones so I'l just have to fork out for them i reckon, i don't want something so soft that im going to have to fork out another 250-300 quid 4000 miles down the line I'd like a mix between the two and I'v heard the BT 090'S are the best when it comes to that.

problem with tyres they really are a personal preference.

I had 090's on my ZXR through great reccomendation and thought they were quite good over the shitty dunlops i had on them to start with. I then had some Avon viper sports on and thought they were even better that the 090's. Damn sight more feel was what i noticed the most.
