Speedo Illumination

Post by UK II Kazawacky »

Hi guys, I'm not sure this is in the right section but hey ho.

The bulb behind my speedometer has blown and i haven't a clue how to replace it, do I need to take the front fairing off or is it just a simple job?

Cheers, Nick

Fair enough, all I know is I can't see what speed I'm doing at night, I can see the revs and the rest of the gauges but not the actual speedometer. How do I replace the bulb(s)?

Been a long time since I looked too closely at a speedo ...............from memory the bulb holder is a rubber grommet thing that just pulls out from the speedo.
The bulb is a regular bayonet fitting so it should just turn a little and come out of the holder

Brilliant, cheers cargo, quick question though, do I need to remove the front fairing to get to the back of the speedo or can I just remove the glass and get to it from the front?

I doubt you will need to take the fairing off......................you should be able to just reach in and feel for the rubber grommet thing.

Could be you will need to take the speedo off but I doubt it. Like I said been a long time since I looked too closely at a speedo on a road bike............

I'll have a look at a speedo in the morning and see if the rubber groment can be accessed without to much effort

they can, although it might be easier to remove the screen if you're ham fisted to get at the one on the inside though
