yeah as said get a cycle computer, unfortunately most only go upto 120mph which is no good for me, but the cycle computers mount on the bars or wherever then a magnet glues to the wheel or disc you set the computer to your rim diameter (assuming you glue the magnet on the rim) and away you go.

magnet fits onto wheel spoke
sensor cable tie's onto fork leg
display fits onto top yoke or somewhere else.

depending how much you spend, sensor and display may or may not be joined by a wire.

baz, you're wrong :smt003 . diameter you enter is the rolling dia of the tyre. doesn't matter what radius the sensor is mounted at, it just counts revolutions. the important thing is how far each revolution takes you down the road, ie the circumference of the tyre

i guess your speedo is under reading by a fair bit if you've put the rim dia in!

look at http://www.ukmot.com for the motorcycle mot manual

don't know about indicators whether it's just if fitted they have to work, or bikes made before a certain date, or what. might be in the mot manual.

the rear light there definitely is a date, my 1978 gs400 has no switch in the lever, but one in the pedal. should be in the mot manual.

lol @ baz. but he does have a point.

you could get a daylight MOT if you don't plan to use it at night.

You will need a brake switch though, I'd just buy a pressure activated one.

how old is it.

pre april 86 you only need it to work on one, guess it's probably newer than that tho
