Cam tensioner release
I have just changed my cam chain ( oh what fun the was lol ) just come to refit the tensioner which is fully out,
Pushed the ratchet and pushed the plunger back in but it just pops straight back out.
Is there a way to release the pressure to refit?

Re: Cam tensioner release
Undo the bolt on the bottom and their will be two springs in there on the new types, and put a bit of wire through the old style ones

Re: Cam tensioner release
it is in the manual on this site how to do it. it is the older type briefly you need to remove the lock nut depress the tensioner and put a fine wire or pin in the hole to hold it down refit to the engine and remove the pin/wire and tighten the lock nut, obviously have the pulse cover off to make sure the blade seats properly in the bottom of the cam chain guide/tensioner type thing. the word fails me at the moment.

Re: Cam tensioner release
Is it ok to replase the old style tensioner with the new one with the 12mm nut at the bottom ?

Re: Cam tensioner release
as long as the mounting points are the same distance, and as long as the tensioner protrudes intothe engine case a similar distance then its fine.matthew wrote:Is it ok to replase the old style tensioner with the new one with the 12mm nut at the bottom ?
im 99% sure that people have swaped the tensioners before...my 2 bikes both have the newer style.

Re: Cam tensioner release
An offer too good to refuse, the new style costs close to a ton, old style about £40, both are interchangable, new type is basically a breeze to fit, hence the cost, I'll gladly accept your offer with delivery and fittingbanner001 wrote:ive got a brand new, never been used, still in its original box, new-style tensioner, £30 if you want it...ill even hand deliver and fit it for you
Does the low seat height reflect the low intelligence? Easier to get an asshole onto.
