Best winter ever :-)

Post by phelsumania »

I just wanted to throw this out there seen as so many people (not on here but in general) have been bitching about the weather this winter being so bad, and how it's been one of the worst in years.

I know this is subjective and will vary from area to area of the country

But I recogn this has deffinately been one of the best winters we've had for a long time in the south east (Hampshire)
Yes we can't hide the fact we had that 2 week spell with high winds and that sucked big time shitting a brick on for a few hours a day commuting, and all the flooding sucked, am fortunate that I live in a top floor flat so havnt been affected housing wise, one of our local estates has been under water for ages now and many houses have been damaged.

But I think excluding that 2 week period this winters been amazing down here even at 4 am and 12am its only been in the minuses a handful of times, last winter I can remember being in so much pain most mornings going to work (continuing to wear summer gloves like a tw@ didn't help) and the roads were always white with frost or worse.
This year was such a pleasant contrast I can't recall any painful rides (granted my winter gears a lot better), but the roads have been so much nicer hardly any frost even at 4am. And we've not had any snow this year which is always a big plus in my books, glad we didn't have to navigate that again.

To sum up This winter has been awesome for the all weather riders, and for those who are still feeling grumpy cause of the great British weather, stay positive springs round the corner with some nice sunny days :-)

Agreed, I've not had to use my hot water bottle once this winter.
Also had few excuses for not going running :smt012
