looks ok to me, hope you're coming on a zxr400...if not you're at the back of the pack.

I'd be up for it, depending on the date! One of my friend's will probably want to come along on the back too, so that's 2 extras on the list!

sounds good to me, im dropping my engine tonight, gonna replace the head gasket, had a ticking sound from the top end today so i think another rocker arm has gone, and ill be lapping the valves in and checking their general condition as well as the general condition of the head.

gonna buy a bus pass for a week...i hate the bus, its always a good incentive for me to fit and fix the parts of my bike :D

phew, that was a session!

tooke me 90 minutes to strip the bike down and remove the engine, then about 6 hours cleaning out the cylinders, lapping in the valves and cleaning the head, replacing the head gasket and checking the valve clearances, then about 2 hours to fit the engine and bolt everything else back in place...not a bad days work.

bike is sounding good, even my neighbour remarked that "it sounds different" in broken latvian/english, its needed the HG doing for a while i think, although there were no signs of damage (i.e. cracks) it was looking like it wasnt far off going kaput. the piston faces were nicely brown, #1 exhaust valve faces were slightly whiter than i would have liked and there was less carbon in the exhaust port, but it was only slightly whiter, no signs of pistons touching valves or spark plugs so that was good.

minimal to almost no carbon deposits on the cylinder head, some small amounts around the exhaust ports but nothing to write home about...a damn sight better than the fzr1000's head...

Hm.

I'd have been game for this, despite my lack of ZXR. However, I'll be in outer Mongolia at that point in time.

Have a good one, take lots of pictures!

I will be up for this!

I'm not a million miles away (Hertfordshire). Just let me know a date and I will take a ride across!

As its rapidly approaching, ill set a provisional date:

Saturday 12th July, 11am, H Cafe (http://www.h-cafe.co.uk/apps/location/) OX10 7LY

an early morning meetup will allow people to wake up in at a reasonable time and still get there if they have to travel from far away. We will leave at 12noon/1pm, route to be decided, something like this perhaps (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Dorch ... 01!1m0!3e0)

so back to the cafe before 3/4pm, bacon butty, cup of tea, fill up and head back home, unless anyone wants to do anything else/see anything down there?

if we can get 5+ people all on similar zxr400's, in the same place, at the same time, ill consider that a result! :D

im using the scooter for commuting at the moment as its cheaper than the zxr, my bike is 100% ready, just needs cosmetic touches and ideally new tyres and painted wheels, so im all set.

that weekend is the german motogp, but other than golf/cricket and the world cup there are no major sporting events listed that i can see, so hopefully it should be fairly free for most people, feel free to say on here if you think you will be coming, or if you want to come but you have an issue with your bike post here and we will see if we can get you rolling :D

you have a little over 8 weeks to prepare :D

this is a provisional date, and it doesnt have to be the only one we take this year :D

things can change, dates can move about, multiple meetups can be arranged as i would like to see your bike, what with all the effort you've put into it.
