Unfortunately I'm going to be doing motorway journeys on my zxr 400 and was wandering what's the most fuel efficient speed to go at?
And what revs is to ok to keep for a sustained time (4hours) without damaging the engine?
Cheers.

I read somewhere that the most fuel efficient speed possible is 56mph on petrol engines, however I wouldn't be doing that on a motorway. I'd probably just stick to the speed limit if I was commuting, in 6th that would be around 8k I guess. Just make sure you you replace your oil fairly frequently, regular maintenance and the engine should be fine. How often will you be doing 4 hour journeys? I'd probably invest in a different bike if I was in the same scenario.

I get over 60mpg if sat at 60mph with minimal throttle use.

I'm pretty sure it's not 56mph for all petrols, it would differ a lot with engine size and power etc. I think I'll try to sit at about 60-70ish because that seems about right but I think I'll get very bored very quickly
And I won't be doing it very often, just a few times a year, hopefully less!

If you want to cruise then buy a cruiser, and some assless chaps.
80-90mph for me on the motorway.

My last motorway run was at night, I sat at 120, although 4 hours may damage one's ears never mind the engine.
Does the low seat height reflect the low intelligence? Easier to get an asshole onto.

you could always up-gear it if you're doing lots of motorway miles
