German Zxr 400 L3 - Lightweight & Road Legal
Hey ho guys,
time has come to show you some pictures and information of my 400. It´s an L3 with around 50.000 km now.
I rebuilt it to make it better and lighter but it needs to pass the german TÜV so I had to follow some rules...
However, take yourself a look:
It´s not finished at all and will get a new design in silver/ black/ white with brushed alloy accents.
Right now it weighs around 150kg without fuel.
Mods:
-Kawasaki ER6/ Verys 650 rims, lighter Z750 sprocket carrier and damper
-Lighter Front (300mm) and Rear (220mm) Discs
-Brembo rear brake caliper (one piston only)
-Oil cooler removed, fitted an alloy connection with included temperature "feeler"
-Engine work, lighter Flywheel, modded oem Airbox and Carbs
-Zx6r Rear Shock
-Dellorto Vacuum Fuel Pump
-Single Seat unit with PC40 Rear light fitted (integrated indicators), Rear frame modded and lightened
-Brembo Braking-Pump front and rear (with integrated reservoir)
-Braided Hoses front and rear
-Koso Rx2 Tachometer
-Jollymoto Carbon Endcan
-Modded Oem Rear Sets
-Alloy Sidestand
-Hollow Handlebar and swingarm axle (thanks for translating banner!)
-Alloy Bolts here and there
-Lightech Carbon mirrors
-Afam 3D lightweight racing chain, modded front sprocket, alloy rear sprocket
-smaller coolant reservoir
Still to come:
-electrical wate pump with silicon hoses and alloy tubes
-Higher Racing windshield
-Lightweight polyester fairing
-Zx6r Front forks with monoblocks and 280mm discs
-Uk Headlights
-Good Downpipes
-some more enginge work till around 70 rwhp

Some news, it´s slowly getting finished
Mra Racing windshield
Gearing Linkage removed, more direct (inverse) shifting
Rear Brake, master cylinder and caliper finished. I also made a lighter and adjustable bar.
some selfmade nuts, saving alsmost 100g (rearwheel, swingarm axle and top yoke nuts)
New fairing. Tank is getting brushed today Fender will be carbon with the zx6r fork lying around here

Thanks
Couldn´t do the fuel tank as far as I wanted... Surface is prepared for finish only. Hope I´m getting finished tomorrow
If you ever wondered how the tank might look without... well without anything: now you know

Green is getting rarer...
Alternative headlight mounting as there was none in this nose cone. You can uninstall the front mask pretty fast now^^ The mirrors will be mounted on the handle bars soon

Re: German Zxr 400 L3 - Lightweight & Road Legal
I started installing the Zx6r Front fork today. Pretty good, all measurements are done and distances will be made this weekend. The Uk-Front light came today and was installed (half) today either. Thank you banner for shipping and help!
Tankcover went carbon/white from green/white
First hang in with 280mm front discs
Special made part for Koso RX2 speedometer, fits zx6r fork as much as the zxr 400 one
Tadaa, half installed UK-headlights. Almost a pound lighter and looks much better! Only need another cable as our loom has only one...

Finished!
Weight: 144kg / 317lbs with everything but fuel

I´ll gather some experience with the new suspension and tell you how it works after some rides

Re: German Zxr 400 L3 - Lightweight & Road Legal
Hi,
this isn´t a real carbon cover. It´s the standard one covered with a 3D-foil with elevated carbon pattern. Did this myself and worked quite ok but not overall. That´s the reason why the area where the tubes go in are still white.
Cheers

Good work! With all the weight saving, make sure you don't put any weight on otherwise you wasted a lot of time and money
