another fault wi me bike! help!!!

right i will try to explain!
you know wen ur stand is dwn and u select first,let out the clutch n the bike dies....well my bike is in neutral...the neutral light aint on,wen i let the clutch out the bike dies! wait...theres more.......i can only find first gear n neutral....it wont let me go up the box for some reason!
could it be something to do with the selectors or maybe im in a fals neutral?????? help! lol

If its any hepl, i could never get my zxr400 into 2nd gear, but that was b4 i blew mine up. Not much help i know but I thawt that wa just a trait of the zxr

ZXR400 gear boxes have a deivice that prevents second gear being selected unless the bike is moving forward you cannot get second gear from neutral while sitting still.

Fathead it sounds like the sidestand switch is stuck and the bike thinks that the stand is still down............it should free up with a drop of WD40.

check under the sprocket cover to see if the neutral wire has come off.
