wots the best diy way of polishing alluminium??(frame yokes etc...)

Nothing better than a good polishing kit with different wheels for the different stages of polishing as well as the soapsto go with it. :) You can get em off ebay. Something like this is good with smaller wheels to get into the more akward areas

use this chap http://www.polishing-kits.co.uk/ he sells all his gear on ebay too, if you check out his photos on his site you will see my forks, yokes and wheels.

you start with an abrasive kit then move onto the polishing kit finish off with some good polish such as belgom.

If you want the cheap but hard work way, buy a pack of different grade wet and dry 200 - 2000 range (ish) work your way from low to high lots of effort and time, then finish off with some autosol or similar metal polish.

sorry but i wouldnt use autosol after wetsanding at 2000. Autsol at all for that matter. It has tiny grits in it so a mirror finish you wont get.

Only know this as im trying to do it, metal polishing. Had had various good outcomes. And will be getting into it soon. Hadnt thought of saying anything on bike to be polished to behonest.

if you want to do it yourself, start at about 240 and work your way up the grade, never jumping more than 100 grit at a time. It takes an awfully long time to sand out all the scratches of the previous grit, when you think youve finished in that grit, carry on, coz you just havent lol. All the way up to 2000 then source around on the internet for some fine hand compound.

Could be a chance i could polish some bits for you guys once im all set up. But not just yet. If someone will post pics for me i can send some of bmw parts ive done etc
