Can anyone give me a brief guide on how to change a zxr's oil and replace the oil filter?
Firstly I need to locate the drain plug and then to completley replace the oil filter, i'd appreciate any help with this or even a basic list of things I have to do and where to locate them.

Oil drain plug is the lowest one on the engine I believe, I think its a 17mm bolt. Take off the RH fairing and drain the oil out from the plug then unscreen the oil filter (you can reach in between the engine and exhuast) screw in new oil filter, refit the drain plug (else you have a new slimey carpet that cost you about £20) then put new oil in. Very simple job. It's all in the manual.

Couldn't have put it better myself ...
One thing though, who here replaces the sump washer when they replace the oil.

Thanks!

you are recommended to change the sealing washer but as said above, who does it?

well if you do is it a special thing, like a sump washer? Ive never seen it as Ive only had the bike for a month. Wont any washer with a bit of rubber do? Im guessing the part from the dealer will be about £4 or something... a gasket for the generator cover is £11+vat... grrr
Thanks!

ow 1 more thing? how tight does the filter need to be? (because they usually say a bit more than hand tight for cars...) is it same for the bike? or do I just screw it as far as it would go?
Thanks!

hand tight is fine, anything over is excessive. don't forget the smear of oil on the sealing lip, this still applies on bikes.
