rene dont build your hopes up on the 21 thing cos it comes down by about 2 shiney 5 pences. no difference at all, i think they have the workings of insurance all wrong.... yea admitantly an 18 year old kid with a subaru impretza you might as well give al'quaeda a nuclear bomb i think. but come on by about 3 years no claims i think a reasonable price on say a GTI wouldnt be bad would it. as if the tax system aint bad enough .

I agree in principle, the insurance companies really don't give enough credit for keeping a clean license and no claims.

They still go on age, which is daft imho. Most of the bad motorcyclists I know are over 30, the bad drivers are nearly all young women and older center line hugging men.

I think insurance stats are still based on something outta the last century ..

Young drivers are far better than their older counterparts these days.

I am rather annoyed by the fact I do thousands of miles a year on a sportsbike, have never once been caught speeding and never had any accidents and yet my premium is calculated on a par with someone who has 6 points and a claim.

C'est la vie.

PS: I have been told by a mate who is a broker that he has checked my files and I am 'very low risk' which is heartening, but doesn't mean you get offered a good premium apparently. A lot of companies, brokers especially, rip off low riskers purely because they tend to be intelligent/high earners and good for it. Grr.

mine halved when I turned 25 :smt003 and if I hadnt wanted to have the bf insured fully comp on my bike too, it would have halved again this year :smt003

wow, my insurance is a tad on the sttep side as i have a 6 month ban, which has expired but cant have it taken off till feb next year along with the 3 points i have which can come off now, only the fact i refuse to pay twice to have each one taken off that i dont have the points taken off now, might as well do it all in one go!

Id liek to think drivers nowadays are better then drivers of old, if accident rates are down since they made the theory test harder with the hazard perception test, then all good. But i still dont think people have driving lessons anymore, its 'passing your test' lessons now.

probem is the way they use stats to give quotes, women being the best expample...im not "that" sexist but the most scared i've been in a car is with women driveing. The reason why they have less acidents is because more than 3 times as many male drivers on the road (although we only have twice as many crashes?) also in total male drivers cover over 10x the amount of miles femal drivers a year (how offen do you see femal drivers on the motorway compaired to men? lorry drivers, bussines people ect) surely we should have 10x more crashes as were on the road for so much longer... :smt017

i agree, i think insurance is a scam, i mean like my m8 ye, 17yrs old 954cc pegeout 106, £1400,1yr ncb from ped :smt017 , u cant do monthly coz ur not 18 n probly not had a job long enough. my mate triumph daytona 650, 19yrs old, 0ncb £3800 but managed to find 1 for £1200 , me 17yrs old (wen last renewed), zxr400, 1yr ncb £625 with devitt, bennets wudn't insure me coz of the catorgory of bike n my age. i think insurance is f***** daylight robbery, n ye the system used to work out quotes is B*****ks, and i wud love 2 boycott the system but ey, not worth the trouble n as if a huge rich company is gonna listen to me! :smt011 and ye there are more male drivers i think, so thats a good point. cheaper insurance for women :smt012 and I as a legal rider feel persecuted by the legal system, like if u dont have have insurance or liscense, steal a car, crash it, wot do u get, a slap on the wrist n a 2 yr ban, but hold on, never had a liscene, didnt stop them last time. muppets. wot a deterrent ey. illegals getaway with murder, but honest drivers premiums and costs go up :smt013

Well i have my own theory on why men smash more than women or old people (with exceptions as there are some v good women drivers an old people, unfortunatley not many) its cos were busy skidin out the way of em thus meanin we bash our cars an bikes its like a chain reaction but i recon more than half the time the real culprit who caused it by either braking sharpley for no reason or poor positioning gets to drive off oblivious to all the people who want to kill em by that point.

I fear vehicles more than the person driving. Mostly 4 x 4s and people carriers and anything below 1994 and newer than 2001.

There are so many cars and drivers on the road that If I were a copper I''d take them all down - brake lights not working, dodgy lane positioning, mobile phones (Still.) There should be ways of reporting all these.

I spend shitloads each year making sure I have a road legal car and bikes and then to see an Audi TT with only the middle brake light working drives me nuts!
