new throttle twist grip from ZX636

Post by pawciobiel »

Hello all

My old throttle twist is rubbish and I wish to swap it for a new one.
Would throttle twist grip from ZX636C1H (2006) or zx10r fit to zxr750 L3 (1995)?
Is it possible to modify old right switch to fit with new twist or shall I buy new one too?

Please let me know your thoughts

90% of switchgear will fit but you will need the matching throttle twist grip (whatever you want to call it) and you may need to cut and shut some wiring.I'm looking to do this on my gixer and update the switchgear maybe for some zx7r switches?
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Thanks for your message.
I think I shouldn't have problems with electrical side of this upgrade.
Unfortunately I don't know anyone who own zx636 or zx10r or who can measure zx636 handle bards, twist and switchgear for me.
I can't find any details about it one the net.

I think that switchgear and throttle twist on zxr750 and zx7r are quite weak, badly made and wear too quickly. There is too much play on it because twist work inside switchgear and size of the tube itself is a bit too big.
On new zx6 and zx10r twist is not just a "tube", it is separate from switchgear, cables are in metal cover, switchgear is narrow and throttle is more precise.
But it might be just my feeling...
