Bike Video Footage To T'Internet...

Post by Jamz »

I'm planning on going a few runs with either a covert cam rigged up on my bike, or with a camera in my helmet looking through the visor.

The only problem I have, is how do I then get that footage from the cassette onto a hard-drive/DVD/whatever?

Is it a case of getting the right software and plugging the camera into the laptop and then it's done?

Is there an easier way - such as taking the cassette into a local Jessops store and saying "Pardon me, Sir - could you put this onto one of your finest DVD's?"

And how much would this cost?

What laptop do you have ?? (So can check the specs and say whether u can do it)

Number of ways to convert it onto DVD

Through a TV Set with a dvd recorder, (Think there pretty cheap these days)
Do you know any computer savvy people that are local to you ? buy them some beer to do it :)

There are products out there like this one for example
http://www.compushopdirect.com/shop/cat ... s_id=11736

Probably cheaper things on the market so dont just buy from that place, as was only a google search...

If you have any troubles just give me a shout

Cool!

I shall take you up on that, Baz!

The bloke who owns the kit might be able to do all this, so it could all be a mute point anyway - I was just wondering how it was done!

My laptop isn't the greatest, and I'm not sure I'd have the memory to edit what will most likely be 40 - 60 mins worth.

Including a fast lap of The Cloverleaf, of course! :smt002

Just got to pray for a dry weekend now!

If the roads aren't bone dry then I'm not going to bother...

Maybe I'll do a wet run in the future if this works out, but for this run I want conditions to be near perfect! :smt002

just as a warning dont show any footage to convict yourself in the last few months the police had someone for posting a vid of himself riding a CBR600 abit naught (by most people stands he was being abit of a pussy boy)

basicly he filmed it from when he left his driveway, they can also track you from the computer you upload it from ect, not somthing id worry to much about my self but you've been warned!

if you have a camcorder that takes Mini DV tapes (so probably if less than say 6-7 years old), the chances are it has a firewire port on it.

similarly, most fairly new computers will have a (bigger) firewire port on them.

if so, simply buy a cable to connect the two up. open up windows movie maker (bundled with winxp) and follow the instructions to capture the footage off the camcorder.
