So who's riding in the daily rain weve been getting ?

Post by Rob636 »

Hello, i have to ride nearly 40 miles round trip to work n back every day, once at 0520 in the morning and then home at 1800, and so far past 2 weeks i been getting f-cking wet almost twice a day its really depressing, why you ask, well im not a fair weather rider i do all my winter riding infact just like jamz when it snowed although i only had 2 miles to go in it i even rode in alot of the black iced nights, i had plenty of rear wheel spins last winter,

so why am i unhappy well its meant to be the summer ! were meant to be enjoying warm weather and great bike riding, instead im risking my life every morning to fresh spilt deisel from the lorrys and those fcuking suicidal rabbits down the slough, nearly had one at 50 mph, that fcuking scared the toad out of me i tell you, weird as it sounds cant wait to get my next car, as im wrecking and rusting my 636 for nothing,

My front calipers are suffering big-time.

I think it's the seals swelling in all the water, and they really need a full strip... I shall just give them a good clean again and hope it's drier for the next few months...

Plus I've got an AV36 on the rear which is fine in the dry, but absolute pigshit in the wet! :smt019

I've started to amuse myself by making it slide all the time on the throttle, but I am fully aware that this is Not A Good Thing, and would much prefer a bit of a dry spell now, thank you please. :smt009

I commute everyday, but its only about half a mile. Still if it rains it sucks! Sometimes I ride my mountain bike but I have just had to strip a load of parts off it to fix my missus' bike that got a serious kicking while it was locked up in town, I think they tried to nick it but realised they weren't going to get through my Oxford Trip Wire Lock so just kicked the sh1t out of it instead. :smt009

My commute is only 10-15 miles, so not too bad. I wouldn't work somewhere I couldn't get to in under 30 mins...

I wear shirt and trousers under my leathers, and leave shoes at work, and that does the job just fine.

If it's really pissing down, with any luck I'll have anticipated it and have my waterproofs with me to put over my leathers! This is essential for commuting! Either invest in a proper suit, or get some cheap waterproofs like I got for under £10 from Decathlon in Merry Hill! :smt002 And try them on over your leathers before you buy them.

My rucksack used to be pretty waterproof, but is old now, and I'm looking to buy another one if I can find one that's as good as mine!

rob636 less than 12 months ago you wouldn't get your bike out if there was a cloud in the sky so either you've adapted to british weather or your telling porkies???
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

no i think your confusing the fact that like you and alot of other bikers i know didnt wash there bikes, as you know me its once weekly minimum with a rebuff on the plastics and a rebuff on all the frames / subframes, so no i ride in all weathers i just like a clean mint bike !, damn have this same argument with everyone,

My tyres are bald, my chain is knackered completely spooged.

Brakes are binding ..

Can't win with this bike; something is always shagged.

Oddly if you leave it alone, it will rotate what is shagged at any given time all by itself. On week its the clutch, then the brakes, then the transmission.

Next week, its all fixed itself and the wheel bearings are wobbly ..

Bizarre. I have the world's only manic depressive motortcycle. :smt017
