Kawasaki Green VFR750

Post by Jamz »

I've been thinking lately about respraying my bike all over in Kawasaki Green.

I like to fk with peoples heads, ok?

Also, I once had a green ZXR750 for a short while, with orange wheels, and thought it looked frikkin marvelous! :D

So would it look ok? Anyone with photoshop skills feel free to show me my 750FM in green.

And the other thing - I'll be keeping costs right down by using cans (booo, hiss!). Yes, yes, I know it's going to be a crap finish, but it's crap at the moment with mismatched fairing panels and stuff. If it looks ok at 10 paces, I wouldn't care about a close-up problem.

Resale value is not a consideration on a bike that's done over 104,000 miles...

I don't think you can get kawasaki green in cans. Its not availible in cellulose, to my knowledge.

You can! Cradley Kawasaki sell it - but it's something stupid like £20 per can! :smt018

When I say 'Kawasaki Green', it'll be a close match... a bit like this post colour!

ah I see. When I was sourcing the paint for mine I found it was only available as a Lechler basecoat. Still at £20 a can you will be getting a close match rather than the real stuff.

I've got a shortlist of colour ideas sorted out! :smt003

I can't be arsed with computer art, but you should get an idea of the schemes here:

Baz will be chuffed to bits I'm even considering a certain colour on the wheels!!! :smt003

Any votes or other suggestions welcomed!

It looks like the black/pink combo is coming out tops at the moment! :smt003

That's your bloody fault corrupting me!!!

I have to say I'm liking them all though...

I have a new front wheel that has to be stripped and coloured - is a spray finish any good for wheels???

mine are sprayed. Getting them powder coated would have meant big expense because the colour wasn't a common one so would have to be made purely for me.

spraying is fine as long as you prep well and put plenty of coats on otherwise the paint will soon wear off, couple of coats of laquer will help too. i can do em in 2k epoxy if you want jamz?

I think as I'm looking at around a week turnaround time to powder-coat stuff, spraying would be a better option.

It's the rear wheel that will be the problem, unless I can get a spare....

I have absolutely no idea what to do in terms of preparation for anything, so all this should be a good learning experience!

Baz - are your pink/green/orange colours as strong as the ones in the pics? I can't be doing with pastel shades or anything!

black with pink wheels. or orange wheels as a second choice. or perhaps one of each.

i'm still tempted to have mine done, front pink, back purple (matching the fairing colours)

of course if you give it to baz and tell him you want green with orange wheels the whole lot will come back pink :smt002
