Crashed the 636

Post by psychopaulgtr »

coming home from work thursday morning stopped at a roundabout to let a car go round as you do. the roundabout was clear i was about to set off then boom everything around me went spinning and i heard alot of crunching and scraping only to then find myself laying on the road with my right leg stuck under the bumper of a vauxhall corsa :smt010 .

I heared the ninja's horn screaming because the impact twisted the bars pressing the horn button on the frame. i came to my senses to find a rather histerical overweight woman crying saying sorry sorry sorry. i looked at my right leg to find my ankle touching the wheel of the car luck is on my side i thought. my trousers were caught on the fitting of the bumper but i managed to free them i struggled up on my feet to find this woman grabbing me saying sorry i diddnt see you (yeah right coz you diddnt fu**ing look coz u were more botherd about a gap in the roundabout than seeing whats in front of you). a few witnesses arrived and one helped me get the bike off the road. other witnesses said they will call an ambulance but i said no im fine but the woman who crashed into me insisted so i let them call an ambulance i got checked out and they said bumps cuts and bruises and let me go. the police were on their way so i stayed put but the woman who crashed into me said im so so sorry because this makes me a bad driver. :smt017 EHHH WHAT THE F*** SHE SHOULD BE BANNED FROM THE FU**ING ROAD AFTER WHAT SHE DID TO ME I COULD HAVE LOST MY LEG OR WORSE DIED WHAT IF I WAS A MOTHER WITH KIDS IN A CAR ( sorry for the language masterofinsanity but this has really wound me up im sure anyone else would feel the same) so i thought too right this really does make you a disgusting driver in fact you must have been a bad driver before this happend.

so the police came and took a statement (under caution?) and swapped my details with her and suprisingly the police man sympathised with me saying they might press charges against her. wow a police man sympathising with a biker the future's bright.
sitting in the back of a t5 made me feel a hardened criminal tho :smt003

one of the witnesses then told me what he saw he said she went straight into the back of you as if she intended to she diddnt even brake the bike shot out from between your legs and that made you do a backflip you then landed on your back and i thought she drove over your leg but thank god you got up straight away your rucksac has saved your back by the looks of it ( not quite ) oh and the police has taken a statement off me.

anyway my brother lived round the corner so he came with his work mate and helped me push the bike back to his garage under a quick inspection subframe twisted exhaust wrecked two buckles in the back wheel rear panel cracked well split in half handlebars twisted dint in tank panels wrecked write off i think :smt011

so i got dropped of at my girlfriends so i could get some kip coz i had no sleep for about 26 hours by now. i woke up after about 4 hours to find myself in extreme pain. in the back neck and leg so it was to doctors on friday and baisically damage to my back has slipped a disc and has give me siatica which is affecting my leg and i also have severe whiplash 2weeks sicknote if no better its off to hospital...........great

so its on to my insurance to get on to her insurance for
the bike
gloves
jacket
helmet
whiplash and back
loss of earnings

this is not gonna stop me biking but im always gonna have an eye in those mirrors whenever i stop it just goes to show how many idiots are on the roads.

stay safe guys

Sheet. Sorry to hear this. :smt013

Hope you get everything sorted!

I know this is probably the wrong time to say it, but the ZX 636 C6F (green) is imho the ultimate sports 600. Certainly the best looking Jap machine ever ..

bloody hell mate glad you're ok, its bad enough being rear ended in a car let alone on a bike.Hope everything gets sorted, you should be able to come off quite well with that amount of whiplash!

terrible. I was hit from behind at lights but was far luckier than you. Stayed on the bike somehow, was still a bent wreck and written off though.

The classic roundabout accident! I've seen it millions of times and it REALLY pisses me off! :smt013

Everyone seems to pull up to islands looking to the right instead of what's in front of them. Personally, I keep my eyes glued on the car in front until it's gone, THEN I look what's coming. It's quite a -ing simple concept, so why do so few people do it??? :smt013

I think you were very restrained, and if anyone deserved a (fully legally defendable :smt002 ) post traumatic smack in the mush - it was her! :smt013

Screw her for every penny you can! That back injury might never be completely right again (hopefully it will) so you deserve to be compensated fully!

Sounds like you could also possibly look into a claim against the Paramedics for not spotting it. Personally, I wouldn't do this because they do a great job and the last thing they need is litigation against them, but the choice could be there...

Either way, hope you get well soon and you'll be back on the bike just as the floods dry out!

Sounds like you were were lucky alright, my mum has ciatica and its not nice. She has to rest regularly and when it plays up she is in pain 24 hours of the day. Hopefuly yours wont be too severe, but i expect those injurys will amount upto a hell of alot of money when you claim for personal injury!

Main thing is your alive and you got witnesses to back you up, and with her screaming 'im sorry im sorry' thats more or less admitting its her fault, hope you get a quick settlement!

I think a bent or damaged frame is an instant write-off. They wouldn't want to take the risk of a bad repair...

sounds really nasty that! but at least your all right!

i've been rear ended at a round about, got hit at 40+ while i was stand still...

the bike ended up fliping into oncoming trafic and i got thrown over the cerb onto a grass bank that lead to a underpass what i fell down...that hurt more than the ducking crash lol

still got all damages paid for and a nice stelment out of it (paid for my zxr4 so cant complain to much! :D )

Sorry to hear about your accident, hope you can recover from it in good time!

I had a simiar one to rene's.

At a island stopped (in my car) with brake lights on waiting to go, busy roundabout so waiting for cars to disperse. Had been sat there for 20 secs or so and woman just rammed into the back of me, shunted the car forward a few feet luckily not into any traffic.

She obviously hadn't looked where she was going. Luckily myself and passnger were ok. I had whiplash though still a bit stiff now (it was this time last year) Because I was on the brake it jarred my neck when she hit me.

I NEVER assume someone is going to go even if no traffic on an island.
