Will a L model sump fit a H model??????????

My mates looking for a sump for her H model, she's been told by her mechanic he ordered a new one from seastars for £90 but someone had a second had one off a L model and i think i read somewhere the sumps are identical for both models, can anyone clarrify this for me?

most parts on the engine are the same, so yes i think they do fit

just asking as someone had a l model sump for sale but ive also just had a email from ams saying they have a H model sump for £40 delivered, which im happy with so if this other fella can do better than £40 delivered ill have the L model one

Thanks for your help Rene, as you said "you think", id just like to here if anyone knows for "definate" that they are the same and will fit. Im sure i read on a thread recently that they are the same, i just cant find that thread lol

why not ask AMS if they will fit?? looking at the microfiches they look very similar and look as if they may fit but the oil pickup pipe looks different in size, and some of the oil pump components look slightly different.

it was probably your post i read Andy. I thought i read someone saying that they do but cannot find the thread now.

Its jsut ams might have a H model one for me for £40 delivered, but somone on here has a L model one for £30 delivered, so obviously id want to go with the cheaper one. Just need to make sure it fits properly before i buy the cheaper one.


Ams is 75% sure he'll have one by the end of next week, but this guy on here has the L model one now, so wana snap it up if it does fit spot on. Its only a tenner difference so if the L models arent identicle, ill just go with Ams's one.

really? didnt think it was too bad, and the person im trying to get one for has one on order from seastars of norwich for £90 so at £40 delivered or £30 delivered for the L model one, its still a lot better than the £90 for a new one she's about to pay them robbing barsteds thats all.

Obviously the cheaper i can get one for the better, but looks like they a little hard to find to be honest

Baz, ive had a email from Brain at AMS and he said the L model sumps do fit mate. But you say there are some parts that look a bit different?

only going by the microfiches mate, if you look at the H & L micros the H looks smaller diameter, may be just the way the microfiche is drawn, if Brian says they are the same then go by him, he knows his stuff!!

its got to fit when the engines are identical, bar the carb heater drillings.

well i just wated to make sure as its only a tenner between em so ther'd be no point trying to save a tenner only to find out it wasnt identicle, in which case i might of well had the one of brian at ams coz you know it would definatly fit properly etc.
