what an expensive lunch..

Post by rene »

Well its happened…was out on the crosser filtering though traffic (just pulled out of work!). As the lights changed I pulled off fast as you do to get past the cars stuck it into second and the front came flying up so instead of sticking on the brakes I just rode it though carried onto the next set of light when a under cover police car came flying up behind me….

Pulled over to let it pass and the copper told me to follow him. Went into a car park and they did all the normal checks…everything was fine so they got into the car just as the last one was getting in they said “oh forgot to ask have you got tax”…. Ah

So just been hit with a £60 fine for no tax and as its SORN the DVLA can now do me with anything up to £5,000 !!!!!

So moral of the story even if you are planning on getting tax tomorrow (like me) DON’T RISK IT! Hopefully the DVLA will go easy on me but who knows

Maybe next month will go better for me..

nope its not been taxed in about 3 years plus being SORN they really butt rape you! if its just the £60 then i've learnt my lesson but if its a big fine from the DVLA then i've got problems

Only if your tax has run out, not if its SORN.

how could you not afford the money to tax it, whats it like £30 or somet like that? now your gona pay doube that for the fine an then some. i think they will take into account how long you had the bike an assume you been riding it on the road from then on i think not to sure thoe. but unlucky.

i havent been riding it on the road..got the MOT done when i got it then due to weather/other comitments (then all kinds of carb related problems) its been off road, today was the first time i've taken it out! not that the DVLA will see it that way, even more so that its hasent been taxed in the last 3 years odd. Plus the ZXR and the maico havent got tax (both of witch are broken!).

Like i said i was planning on getting it taxed tomorrow as well just really bad luck!

I'm pretty sure that does make the ticket invalide, I got stopped going through a no entry except buses sign in my Honda Civic CRX and the police officer wrote the ticket out as a Honda CRX, I argued that my car was a Civic CRX and the case was thrown out. I think they have to be really careful with tickets now days, so it's worth a shot.

The police might let him off, but the DVLA will shaft him like a sheep.

If i was you i wouldnt give em a reason to crush your bikeS its not just the one bike they can take from you its all of them i think (althoe if they cant start then i guess it cant be prooven) best to just say iv been fixing it an i honestly forgot the tax as i still had some other bits to do or somet. try givin em a ring an tell em that plus ask whats likely to happen or somet, take notes as it all goes on record for cort etc.

Hello mate I would contest it but if you lose you get stung for a LOT more???. But if you were given a on the spot fine I think you are f**ked and the plod will report you to the dvla. So go and see a solicitor or phone it’s FREE. I got pulled over just before the new law came out (the right to crush our sell cr*p) I’d had the car for about 6 months but it was off the road with a blown head gasket fixed it tock it down the road got pulled over was taken to court fined £60 3 points and then a few days later I get a letter off the DVLA for £90 back dated road tax
