last night i had the chance to change my zxr400 for a gsxr750 04 reg with me giving some money over... i was all up for it but i thought id check the insurance an find out what it was goin to be, obviously no no claims yet so TPFT was like almost 10 grand WTF but i ran an elephant quote an what was it, 1475 fully comp yet all the TPFT were still 9 odd grand, but ill get it for 750 TPFT with 1yr no claims!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF

pritty understandable really, the 750 is a bloody powerfull bike and alot of peopel who think there ready to ride it arnt.
not to say thats you, its just worth getting a year worth of experiance before taking on a bike that gets you into bad situations alot quicker and easyer

it comes down quite quickly - I paid about £500 fully comp when i bought my gixxer (April 05), Ive just renewed it at £175 fully comp for both me and my other half
having a years insurance on the bike and not making any claims makes a huge difference
its true aint it, what a difference a year makes lol! but i wouldnt allow anyone to have one as there first bike cos the 400 is fast but its light to throw around so you can get out of bad situations easyer, but i love to think how much more powerful a 145bhp 750 would be however would the brakes be much better.

the 750 is about the same weight as the 400 and better brakes. But the extra power will high side you easly, lose grip it you crank it open on a bend and if your silly bring you into a bend a hell of alot quicker than your skill can manage. Once you can ride the 400 quick then you'll have no problems riding it but trust me the 400-750 jump will scare you silly for the first few rides, feels like your arms are getting pulled off!

wuhoooooooo thats what i want. i remember the first few rides on the 400 it was scary but now its like ahhh but it still does have its moments where your scared... i was lookin at the specs for the 750 an they weigh abut 165 kilos or somet, whats the weight of the 400. i know the 750 weighs a couple of keys more than the 600 but not much, im goin for an 04 as well.
that bit about spinin out on the corner if you put to much power down is a fraction worryin or do you just get used to the ride after a while. i supose you need to get the feel for it.

thats the main reason why poeple crash when moving up as they try to ride the bike harder than they can, it takes a good cuple of months for a newish rider to learn a bike well, not to mention geting used to the power

I looked that up earlier, made me feel proud cos when i dropped it afew moths ago with a full tank i managed to pick it back up by my tod well as proud as you can be that you dropped it

On the subject of dropping, i nearly droppen mine today, somehow i mananged to try putting it on its stand without realising i hadn't put the stand down lol quickly jumped off and caught it before it touched the ground lol
yep nearly did that the other day aswell.. rode into the gf's cramped garage, she came through to say hello and i just went to plonk it down... it went down so far before i got it with one arm around the bottom of the frame on the nearside.. lucky the gf was there coz she steadied it as i got my other arm on it lol

has anyone ever got their shoe laces caught round the peg i done that the other day , i had to push my foot to the floor hard an broke my laces but still lucky i didnt drop it
so what sort of things could i expect if i do get a 750 cos its now either an 04 gsxr 750 or a cbr 600rr so should i get the 6 or 7 as iv heard goin from a 4 to a 6 aint a massive amount. plus i will use for going to work most nice days to which includes motorways (or i could go the twisty way depending on how i feel). so suggestions please

Well I feel that with how good the 600s and thousands are these days, the 750 doesnt really have a place.
test ride a 600 before you decide it isnt a huge amount of difference, you have almost double the power of the ZXR from a modern 600.
