Returning biker from Devon

Post by macman1 »

Hi I have just joined the forum, I live just outside Exeter in Crediton. I pick up my zxr on Wednesday 15th November. It's my first Kawasaki, well my first sports bike really.

Last bike I rode was a suzuki Gt200 X5, with k&ns and ported carbs, the previous owner had managed to squeeze a 130 tyre on the rear, looked the part, still got it in bits in my shed.Quite quick, gotta love them 2 stroke powerbands! That was 10 years ago, I just wanted to get back on a bike and I was told to go for either a 400 superbike or bandit to get me back into it.

The bandit is well respected, but I think it looks a bit plain, so I went for the zxr - I hope I don't regret it!

There are some amazing vids on youtube - esp the dyno one - turn it up LOUD.

I will post a pikkie once i have the bike, nice to make aquaintance with you all!

I couldn't wait until he 15th, I went to pick up my MOT certificate and he told me the bike was ready and I could have it today if I wanted it - who could refuse?

What a night I've had! WOW :smt007

I rode from Crediton to Exeter then exeter to Copplestone then back to Crediton then across to Tiverton, look at a map - see those twisties!

I did take it easy as I haven't ridden for sooooooooo (too) long, so I was only doing 30 - 40 on the fast bends, 60 on the straights.

I've gotta practice my cornering - scared the toad out of myself a few times. Need to have the confidence to push it down into the bends moew rather than trying to steer around them.

I just need more time on the bike to practice really.

The night was only marred by the fact that I dropped it whilst practicing slow manouvres - I had to telephone my pal to come and pick it up coz at 9.5 stone I'm not built for picking up heavy bikes. He'll never live it down! I've scuffed the end can and paint, but no big deal.

Anyway, a pretty good night. :smt001
