RST are no good

Hey everyone, do you all remember this thread viewtopic.php?f=33&t=3938&st=0&sk=t&sd=a well in it there where a lot of negative thoughts on RST leathers.

I thought mine were pretty good, however over the last week the zip has started to undo itself from the bottom, now I thought this could have been down to one faulty zip, however the same started happening to my girlfriends as well. So we took them back to Bridge Motorcycles in Exeter and exchanged them for some Dainese ones and OMG they are soooooo much better than the RST's.

I also got some winter gloves and ear plugs, both of these are possibly the best things ever!

Anyway there you go don't buy RST.

Ive got a pair of RST gloves and they are just about the best gloves ever! Ive had em for about 6 years or 7 years, apart from the holes in the clutch finger and broken carbon backs, they have been through almost every one of my falls too.

Oh, and the earplugs were one of the best things ive ever bought too! Improves the experience so much, im sure i ride better with them than without.

My leathers are slowly unstitching themselves. Worrying the to say the least. But im going to replace them next year. Theres a company that makes leatehr suits to fit for resonable prices near me. And if i go ahead with my plans to get in to racing they should be pretty good at the job.

i got a complete 2 piece wolf race suit in kangaroo for £400 absolout bargain its a shop in derby they will post 2 but they have some outstanding prices for clothes to be fair ill give u the number if you like.

My first leathers were RST and served me rather well!

For £300, I certainly couldn't complain - as you get what you pay for!

I think I wore them for 3+ years, and towards the end of that time the zip also buggered up on mine - but that's just wear and tear, really. I'm sure I could have had them repaired, and I still have them as spares if I need them.

I don't think you'd be able to buy a new set that's better for less - except for things on special offer.

Having said that, my current Spyke kangaroo-skin leathers were just under £1000, were a perfect fit off the peg, are much, much lighter, and generally kick ass.

But for that money they should do!

Pay as much as you can - if you think new stuff is at a bargain price - you're probably also getting bargain basement quality!

I've had one set of RST gloves, and they were toad. I paid about £80 for them and wore a hole through the palm in under 6 months. I wouldn't have liked to slide down the road on those - even from new.

i wont EVER own RST leathers unless they get a hell of alot better, far to many shock storys about how poor they are. My alpinestar leathers cost me £300 (should be £800 but got them in a closeing down sale) had them 3 years now, had about 4 crashes in them, one crash was at 90+. Also done over 50,000 miles of hard riding. I've worn though the right knee leather from knee downs After all of this there still perfect (apart from the crash markings). I love them that much that id even pay the full £800 for them, and it looks like i'll need as i've got to fat for them now

Never tried the RST gloves, but went out all day in my Dainese and OMG they are soooo warm and comfy compared to the RST's and I wore my Dainese textile jacket to work this morning as it was raing and I was hactually sweating.

All said though I did trade 2 RST jackets and a pair of trousers for 2 Dainese jackets and a pair of trouser plus an extra £400 so you really do get what you pay for.

The thermal/windproof lining for my Spyke leathers is good, but doesn't cover the zip at the front - so if you're just wearing a work shirt underneath it can get a bit nippy... hence in extreme cold I wear my textile jacket with a superwarm liner...

Although having said that, I still haven't put my lining in my leathers yet this year...

I've had my lining in for months, but then maybe thats cos we're all southern jessies down this way.

i wear nankai gloves and they r the nuts. ok they were originally black and now slightly tan but they are still just as well put together as they were when i paid £200 for them almost 10yrs ago!

Yeh BTK, heard some good stuff off a bloke i work with. He has a crazy bike ill see if he has any info on the net when i next see him. GSX1400 turbo and nos. But he took one off as he kept shagging the head. It used to be in a english breakfast theme and the NOS can was brown sauce. But i think its general lee now. Some of you may have seen it at the Isle of Mann he does the thundersprint? that what its called?
