What jet for my setup?

Post by carsounds_dan »

I've found a website that does jets cheap, my zxr has a micron 4-2-1 system on it and its got bad fueling so what setup is it going to need to get it running right?
Symptoms:
When at idle and the throttle is opened up quickly it will either bog down or stall
ANY application of the choke other than REALLY SLOWLY and carefully results in a stall
Stutter at 11k+rpm
When left running notable smell of fuel (no leaks anywhere)
If you could post up what engine mods you have and what jets your running aswell just to give a rough guide for users it would be awfully helpful, I want to get it running at liest half right before I get on the road.

Cheers
Dan

i'd say take it to a dyno, and get someone who understands jetting to do it

The carbs might need a good clean maybee, have you put bigger mains in already, or altered anythin else?

take jakes advice and give the carbs a good clean through first, then have them balenced. even with bad jetting you should still be able to rev it, unless a previous owner has already been there and pissed about with the main jets and got it all kinds of wrong. had it been standing a while before you got it? micron systems for the 400 dont normally require a re-jet.

and as gem said if you want it jetted book it in with a dyno and have them set it up properly.

The trouble with having an open mind, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

as i said in my other post for you, i have the same setup engine wise and i have #105 main jets in mine.

fuelling is near spot on, no flat spots and goes really well.
