It's probably easier. There's a nut on the other end of the mounting bolts. It fits into a pocket in the head casting so you don't need to put a spanner on it, but it will invariably drop out while you're changing it and you'll need to get a hand in to put it back.

I had the fairing lowers off for something else at the time anyway.

so you only need to tighten up the outside then?
