i was using a mates round carbon one for a while. it was from a zxr 750. all you need to look for is a 65mm inlet but they dont come cheap, even on ebay. i got a stainless oval race stubby from fuel. cost 145 quid delivered but it fitted perfect and sounds like a tank.
anything is possible with enough time and money. and an open mind...

The microns have a baffle in the link pipe, which will more than likelly make it quiet aswell as strangle a bit of extra performance. I have a micron that was on mine, and it boomed, right on the track limit noise wise. Altho, im not 100% sure how you get the baffle out unfortunatley. You would have to put some bigger main jets in there tho

If I remember correctly, the Micron on my ZXR750 was a hell of a lot bigger pretty much everywhere than the Micron on my ZXR400...

I've never really understood myself why you can't shove the can from anything onto any other bike - as long as it's set up properly it should be ok? Although if the diamter and length is different it WILL affect performance one way or the other...

I managed to get a set of micron pipes but without an end can.

Finally got a can from AMS which is from a ZXR750, looked at fitting the pipes and can tonight but the can looks much bigger than the existing and the existing one is close to the swing arm.

Tobomoto if you read this you said you had a micron 750 can on your 400 for a while, did it fit ok or did you have to modify anything?

The guy at AMS said it was the same can for the 750 and the 400, I now see from reading the above posts that this is not true. Also the can was supposedly only used to try an engine, but it arrived scratched, slightly squashed with a dent, so not at all impressed with AMS, which is a shame as I was going to get their body kit.

Now I am sure that AMS have not told the truth I am seeking advice to see if the 750 can will fit straight onto the 400?

Any help will be most apreciated.

Thank you, Nick.

If anyone has the time could they measure the diameter/circumference of a micron 400 race can and also the length of the main body.

Thank you, Nick.

tell them you're not happy mate, AMS give discount to official members of the zxr400oc i'm sure they would want to know if they haven't fulfilled your expectations.

hi the can was a round carbon road legal one. i only really had it for the mot but it turned into 7 months. fitted perfectly no mods required but it was quite long. it was nearly level with the numberplate. i got my own micron road legal round stainless now and again it fitted no probs. i bought it as a universal can so it should be ok on any 65mm inlet pipe. i dunno if it affected performance as somone mentioned earlier as i had to give it handfuls to sound any good! waaaaaaaaaay too quiet.
