The zxr does not traffic
Took her up to Imperial College london on wednesday, sorted out the regulator the night before and she rode amazingly apart from getting rather hot in traffic and also stuttering when accelorating on the way back, just coming up to the leatherhead turn off of the A3 and stuttering like no fuel, flicked the switched the fuel switch round to reserve and off she went again, went and put a fiver in and she went home alright... although she still had loads of fuel left.. i might need to clean out my fuel tap out a bit me thinks.
But was just wondering if anyone would be able to give any advice on keeping the temperature down on the bike, i was thinking maybe fit another fan to the rad....
oo also any thoughts of the head gasket going were thrown clean out of the window as she didnt use a drop of water the whole trip even though she touched the last line just before red.
cheers
dan

if you got a manual switch mate best thing to do is switch is on soon as you can see its gonna get busy. My 7R is really bad for traffic, worse than the 400

Re: The zxr does not traffic
first thing is make sure your fan is working
beyond that, just don't ride in london
. On the odd occasions I go and visit mates down there in the summer I always end up filtering like an idiot just to try and force enough air through the rad!

yeh fan comes on. I might fit a switch as an extra pre-caution... I also found that she doesnt like starting when hot.. and it was mainly the cranking she didnt like doing... She bumped fine but not strait off the battery..

Re: The zxr does not traffic
i have a little bit of wire taped under pillion seat so if it does start overheating, i can bridge the temp sensor wires and force the fan on.

Re: The zxr does not traffic
If im in traffic, I filter, if I cant move in traffic and im gonna be there for longer than a few mins, I switch off the engine. Whats the point in wasting petrol?

Re: The zxr does not traffic
Is yours an import? Mine is an L2 import and the fan doesn't kick in until the top of the guage too. Wondered if they use a different scale guage or something.
I like the idea of a manual switch. I think I'm gonna do that as the fan keeps it under control, it just kicks in very late.
That said, I'd rather it was automatic. I just can't be bothered to work on my bike right now - I just want to ride it whilst it's dry!

Re: The zxr does not traffic
sounds obvious but have you checked the thermostat? i dont have one and i have a seperate switch for the fan. keeps it cool enough
anything is possible with enough time and money. and an open mind...
