Full license!

Post by Vard66 »

I took my A2 class test this morning, lads and lasses.

Despite turning up to the test center early, and hanging around laughing and joking (pretty calm at that point) I managed to leave my License Card back at the Bike School in Devizes, and then when I realised this, with 40 odd minutes to go till my test, it was a matter of ringing round, seeing if there was anyone in Devizes who could run it over to Chippenham for me.
In the end, Vernon Hickson, the instructor I'd been learning under for the last day and a bit, wound up discarding the big shiny vest and belting it off to get it.
He got back with about one minute to spare, before my extra 5 mins waiting time was up. The man is a legend.
After that, I then went and f**ked up on the Emergency Stop. Skidded the back wheel a bit, and then just about remembered to do some obs before paddling into the kerb.
So, went into the test center with a face like a rainy day.
Ian turned to me and said 'so, you are successful, if you'd just sign here...' and my jaw dropped. I must have stood staring at him with my mouth wide open for about twenty seconds, as he looked up and said 'yeah, you've passed'. He had to say it a third time before I believed him.

So, as of about half eleven this morning, I am a fully licensed motorcyclist!
Now only a matter of time till I can get the ZXR serviced and restricted, and then I'm on the road!
Money... Money... Money... I need more money...
Vard.

You're not wrong! I've always scoffed at the idea of something making you so happy you actually physically find it hard to stop grinning, but I've not stopped grinning since about half eleven. My cheeks hurt, damnit!

I jumped a red light on my test. In my defence it was very wet and I was close to it when it changed, which is probably why I passed. I'm very confused about new test procedures, when I passed you just done your test and that was it. Someone please explain??

p.s. Congratulations.

If you are under 21:

Take a A2 liscence on a 125cc motorcycle. Liscence is restricted to 33hp for two Years

Over 21:

DAS take liscence on a bike with 33hp or more, liscence has no restrictions meaning any bike.

Obviously format is still:

CBT (1 day course)

Theroy (Paper Test)

Practical (The Big Day)

For DAS the bike has to have 46.6BHP or more I believe.
You also have Accelerated Access, which is If you do your A2 test, then turn 21 before the 2 year restriction period is up, you can take another test to remove that restriction.s
