Mostly Crap News printed that you'll now get 3 points for it but its 100% not true. You will not get points for small plates

they will give a chance to rectify first id have thought. chances are MCN printed that as a result of some twat who was acting like a pratt, which ended up in him receiving 3 points then got done for a small plate too. It then gets sensationalised by a paper and too many people believe what they read.

You cant get 3 points whatever you do, even if you kick up a fuss you wont have 3 points for small plates. What they might do is force you to put a new MOT on the bike (to check everything else is legal) whats annoying if you only just got one done..

Hi,

What's the legal size then? 9x7 aint it?

Think I have a 8x6 or 7x5 on my mine.
Image

Well, I know the plate size isn't legal but the font size is. I once got pulled over for doing 70 in a 30 zone (boyracer in a scooby was giving me stick) and the officer checked over my bike and he didn't even notice my plate smaller then the normal size which I can't remember what it is now. He even thought my bike was a 600 :smt005 I tried telling him it's a zxr400 but he wouldn't have non of it.

But yeah tbh even if you did get pulled for a stupidly small plate, the most they can do is give you a producer, slap on the wrist and check over ya bike and maybe a MOT re-test like rene said. I know for sure my plate isn't legal but the police take no notice :smt003

Regards

Rich

two points:

a) It's in More Crap 'n' Nonsense.

b) ACPO guidelines are not law, and individual forces are not required to follow the guidelines. Non-conforming plates and dark visors are still illegal, and you can still be prosecuted for them, and there's evidence that several forces have ignored the ACPO recommendation.
