You don't have to lean the bike that far at all. Best thing I figured out is to lead with your shoulder and turn your body towards the corner - Look well into the corner, get a cheek off the seat, drop your leading shoulder, facing well into the corner.
The bike will follow where you look/lean.

You feel like a monkey doing it and probably look stupid. But once you have it dialled, you can start doing it at higher speeds and so won't have to be so exaggerated. Cos to be honest, KD at 40mph is pretty pointless... but oh so fun! :smt002

Once you get that first scrape, you'll never miss again and wonder how it seemed so hard. As scott221 said, it's all in your head...

Imagine what that looks like broadside - you'd just see the bike! :smt005

How come you stuck your knee out with no sliders?

Hi,

LOL maybe he forgot to put them on? or they fell off? or even he just couldn't afford any?

Getting your elbow down is crazy! I'd never even dream of doing something so silly like that. I was talking to my mate last night about getting my knee down and he called me a nutter and a boyracer?? I asked him if hes ever done it and he told me to F off, he also said KDin is for twats who abuse the roads. Well, the way I see it is, if you got the tire.... USE IT! no point in paying out 100s of pounds on a rear tire when you're only gonna use the middle!

Regards

Rich

Sounds like your mate is one of those straight upright riders that only go fast in a straight line lol :smt005

i reckon he cant do it,so tells you its stupid so you dont laugh at his inability. and true what you say, using the middle of the tyre is no fun, and pointless. unless your going straight :smt002

ah but in defence you dont actually need to get your knee down to go any faster round a corner. at least i dont think you do anyway. it just looks good lol.
Remember speed kills, so does smoking, drinking, drugs, fast food and many more good things

Yea it kinda slows you down a little, it does look good but it is also an indication of how far you are leaning over on the tyre.

Not just that either, also gives stability through a corner if done right.

Yep and if your as good as Colin Edwards or Hayden then you can use your knee and elbow to get the bike up again if you lose the front!!!!
