K&N with no snorkal and aftermarket Can

Post by MillaMeter »

Hi,

Straight to the point here, basically I have a K&N air filter fitted with no snorkal and a after market no baffle s/steel end can. What I need to know is what jet sizes to use and what needle settings?

Thanks

Richard

#105 keihin jets , equivalent dynojet ones would be #100/#102 for that setup

you've got dynojet needles too Mike, stock needles may require different jets.

why is it when using a KnN, you need to remove the snorkel?

general consensus is that the KnN blocks the snorkel partly and runs richer than stock with it fitted.

sounds better without it too.

in which case is it worth removing the snorkel even when using the standard air filter? what is the purpose of the snorkel anyway?

the OE filter is different to the KnN, it doesnt block the end of the snorkel.

you can remove it, but you'll need to re-jet, and maybe play with needles.

its to smooth the airflow to help prevent flatspots, and to quieten the induction noise.

i dont want it to be quiet. if i put a knn on, will it still need re-jetting?
