MOBILE SPEED CAMERA VANS!
I was on the way home from work today on an A road where there was a 40mph limit by a farm, and was behind someone doing about 35mph in a car, needless to say I was bored so pulled out and overtook and without thinking really I found myself going about 50 when I saw one of those mobile speed vans in front of me, facing my way with the camera, I quickly slowed down but it must have seen me doin 50.
What I want to know is obviously I dont have a numberplate on the front of my bike, but is there any way these vans can get you with, say, another camera as you pass them on the other side....?

not unless they follow you as you pass to get your number, or post on a forum the details of the speeding incident
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Re: MOBILE SPEED CAMERA VANS!
not 100% sure but i heard alot of these speedvans actually have a forward facing camera so they can catch bikers aswell e.g. they catch you speeding then using the foward facing cam to get your plate details

Re: MOBILE SPEED CAMERA VANS!
i had a hinged plate held down by some bungee that flipped up at somewhere around 60-80mph.. horribly illegal, but i never got any points while it was fitted.

That's an excellent idea!zimm wrote:i had a hinged plate held down by some bungee that flipped up at somewhere around 60-80mph.. horribly illegal, but i never got any points while it was fitted.
I mean, it's definitely secure, and if it only err... unvisible at illegal speeds - who's going to test it, and does it need to be anyway?

What about an inflatable pregnant woman on the back? "I was on my way to the hospital, honest"
