£800 baargain! roll on the fun

Post by Xphyral »

Recently acquired this 2005 z750 after it had been unceremoniously thrown down the road after the owner had thoughtlessly neglected to change the bald front tyre :smt003 :smt003
It had gone down the same side at some other point aswell, everything seemed to run ok so a swift kick in the bollox later and i'm loading this into the van.

First thing i had to do was change that bloody can, a nice MRS one for a cheap £40 off ebay did the trick, along with the removal of all the fairings.

Image

the dogs a pain.

Damage report:
Bent handlebars
Knackered r/h top fairing panel
r/h screen brace/mirror mounting is bent
bracket bent on lower r/h fairing mount
r/h footrest hanger fooked
original can severly scratched
clutch and pickup casings scratched but not all the way through
Bald ass front tyre.

New bars and footrest:

First steps towards repairing the top fairing today with some ugly initial plastic welding. I think i'm going to chop off the rear sections of the side pods to make the top fairing less bulky. and i quite like the look of the bike without any of the fairings heh

a few things done since last update.

fitted tail tidy.

Decided to shorten the sides of the top fairing and weld it together so it's one peice for painting.

since i'd cut the sides off the side pods for the fairing i only had the mirror mounts holding it on so i had to make a bracket up to hold onto the bottom half, had a little idea while i was thinking about what to do. my indicators are going to be mounted in the end of that hex section of ally once i've drilled and tapped the end. needs some filing down on edges and a bit of filler work and paint to look prettier.
Image

i want a USD front end from a 2007 model z750 at some point, and i think over the winter i'm going to put a vfr single sided swinger on it with a high level exhaust. And ive ordered some white and green leather so i can get me a custom seat done up in the same style as the paint job i have in mind.
