What difference 5 teeth make...

Post by crushedlizard »

Son of a Biscuit Eater! I didn't expect 14/47 to transform the bike like this. Admittedly I probably rev ~2k higher than before, but I was always capped at 185kph and I still reach that in 5th (as opposed to 4th before).

£37 well spent, as I'm sure Deviant will agree.

Thank you Renthal.

oh, and the title came from the premise that 1 front tooth is worth 3 at the rear.

It's well worth doing to a bike once, just to see!

A week of it on my TZR125 with a DT125 rear sprocket was more than enough for me, though - it was driving me -ing mad after the first couple of days! :smt013

i really wouldnt bother tbh ..

it annoys the toad outta me on the roads, mines like that cos its geared for pembrey and im too lazy to change it back.

if i used the bike mainly on the road id stick with 15/45, or even 15/44.

i was thinking about changing the sprockets on my 750 at one point, but dismissed it and fitted a quick action throttle instead. makes it a helluva lot easier to get more power down on the way outta bends without trying to break your own wrist. definatly no need to change gearing for me anytime soon.

The trouble with having an open mind, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

droping 1T on the front was one of the best power mods i did my 750. Lost about 5mph topend could now out drag new 600's. Its well worth doing.

Am gonna get my gsxr back from the mechanic today with one tooth more on the back. It accelerates quite well anyway so I'm not expexting miracles. We'll see.

was quite surprised to find my gixer has a 17T front as standard, just ordered a 16T front - may go up one on the rear too..... just because I can :-)

just need to find time to fit em now - not a big job, I just dont seem to have any time at the minute

Bum oles! It's not back yet so I'll ring him in the morning to see if he's got them yet.

Will 2 make a difference, or will I need more?

go down 1 at the front, has the same effect and you wont need a diff length chain

actually dont think ill bother adding more to the rear, pulls hard enough as it is and its not exactly slow on accelaration as it is.
