Re: rear seat
Does the key go in at all? On mine it seems like the key is properly inserted but I need to push it in an extra couple of mm before it'll turn the seat release mech.
If it doesn't go in at all then yeah probably somethings been changed. Is the ignition key an original Kawasaki one or aftermarket?

Re: rear seat
no problems, squeeze your hand up the left hand side rear panel and you will feel a cable, give it a good tug!
i do believe this is how me and jamz got acquainted, with me havin a good tug with my hand up his rear end.
