Final Destination Moments

Post by Jamz »

You've all seen the films and know the general idea: something really random happens and twats you to death.

Have you ever had such a freaky near miss that could well have been a featured death in one of the Final Destination films?

Thread inspired by cow-orker saying he was travelling home on the motorway and a huge road sign was lay near the central reservation. The air flow from the traffic got underneath it and lifted it up, sending it spiralling into his path like some kind of dirty great big razorblade! He managed to swerve and avoid it rather than get his head lopped off by it...

I have my own story, too (most of the older members will have heard it already)...

I was about to pull out of the first junction from my house when I decided to wait instead of pulling out in front of an approaching Landrover. As he passed I followed him accelerating steadily but then to my irritation saw his brake lights come on.

Thinking he was taking the next left turn a bit late, or about to reverse into the turning and turn around, I was deciding to blast past, and covering my brakes silently cursing the idiot ahead...

... then something hit my visor, and as it hit the bare flesh of my neck I somehow knew instantly that it was a wire across my throat. All the stories of kids tying wire across roads and killing bikers went through my head as I slammed the brakes on, all the time waiting for the wire to go taught across my throat.

By some miracle I found myself stopped, and was pretty sure my head was still on, so that was good.

It turns out that a telephone wire had fell across the road, and the Landrover in front of me had hit it at windscreen hight and then the driver had suddenly realised a bike was following him so braked to try and warn me!

Bloody good job, too, because any other time I'd have still been accelerating hard, probably one handed and defintely not covering the brakes!

I flinched for months every time I went past that spot... :smt009

I guess my moment would be when the friction pad fell off the backing on one of my brake pads last week just as i was about to head up the motorway.....

My near-death moment was as close as I ever want to get. After picking my bike up from a friends I decided that since I was near the old ulster gp circuit I would take a spin around it. Anyway as I came to a slow swooping left I noticed a car was coming towards me on my side of the road. Taking quick action I ran wide onto the oppistie side of the road, straight through the trees.

At this moment I felt something grab my neck, yep you've guessed it, barb-wired. And if that wasn't bad enough there was a bloody river behind the trees. So there I am with barb-wire embedded into my neck, my bike fully submerged and me desperatly looking for my leather-man.

Manged to cut myself out of the barb wire and walk back to my friends. So while I took a trip to the A & E, he went for a swim and got my bike out with a near-by tractor.

As for the driver who nearly hit me, didn't even notice what happened...... shocking

P.S: Has anyone noticed that in final destination 2 the guy is riding a black ZXR 400

Kin ell! shocking Good job the wire wasn't attached properly!

I think it's a ZXR750 in FD 2, but I could be wrong...

Ooh that's too tight to call! You don't get many good shots of the bike but I think in high def you should be able to tell if teh nose fairing has the 750 cut-out bits right at the start of the sequence before he lays the bike down.
