Post by jake »

I dont normally check, i just phone em and get the bits i need and thats that.
But just looking at my bank statements, i payed em 36 quid for a set of front wheel bearings.. thats a bit steep init?
checked wemoto for the pattern option, and they are 7 quid a set!

so i guess thats the price difference between kawasaki and pattern parts then.
I mean im happy to pay double for genuine rather than pattern, but 4 or 5 times more is a bit much!

Kawasaki dont make the bearings though Jake, they are usually from a well known supplier for OE. Id rather go for wheel bearings elsewhere and go for a quality brand.

I use these guys:

They are very good and there service has been brilliant.

THe codes are usually on the microfiches for the bikes, ifnot you can go to wemoto and im sure it has the bearing numbers as well.

Shows 6004 UUC3 which is:

http://shop.marksman-ind.com/6004-2rs-s ... 1412-p.asp

There are different codes for how the bearings are held within the races. 2RS is 2 sided Rubber Sealed, as there are a few codes which mean the same thing as well, cant remember what UUC3 is, quite possibly just what they have called it in kawasaki, if you search google it will tell you, but i just use 2RS for all my wheel bearings. I think the one sealed ball bearing in teh swingarm is the same size as the front wheel. There are also 3 needle rollers in the swingarm, i have always ordered these from kawasaki, however im sure if we got the accurate dimensions we would be able to get hold of the needle rollers from a bearing supplier as well.

just had a look at the fiche,

the swingarm needlr rollers are BM283417 , which means its a 28x34x17 needle roller, its not a common size, thats 28mm internal x 34mm external by 17mm length.

Closest i can find is a 28x35x16, which means its 1mm shorter and going to be 1mm bigger, which will make it a nightmare to smack into the swingarm tube and then you dont know if itw ill push the needle rollers closer together causing them not to roll properly because they have been compacted in closer together because the outer casing may be pushing in...

Im sure when i bought these from kawasaki they were about £12 each though and that was about 6 years ago, since then ive always dropped the swingarm and linkages off every couple of years and greased it all up! As the overhaul for my suspension linkage and swingarm bearings was close to £100 just in bearings.

I just bought some new head bearings and 4 oil/dust seals for front and rear tyres and that all came to £115 vsad - the bearings were £37 each. Plus Cradley's didnt put the discount on the invoice when I said about the club!!!!! :smt013
