Training

Post by cargo »

Many of you will remember the thread that discussed training and fitness.
I started because I wanted to lose weight and get fitter for racing but it also lead to me starting running and entering a few running races...........I'm slow very slow in fact but I find them great fun.
Today I finished my first marathon..........thats 26 miles 385 yards..............and I ran every inch of it bl00dy tough I can tell you but here I am 4 hours after the finish and I'm still buzzn............I'm sore tired and in a fair bit of pain but satisfied wonderfully satisfied................nearly as good as finishing a race on the IOM.
I can recommend it even if your not that fit..........80% of it is in your head and having decent kit...........
Will I do another one ?????????????/ not sure right now.........but it was fun

Flat feet and any sport involving running doesn't mix well :smt009

Used to do cross country at school as that was more about stamina than out an out pace but was still piss at it (Got to have a smoke half way round the course in the woods :smt005).

Done rugby as that was short bursts and you got to legally hack / kick / trample on other players :smt003

So hats off for doing a Marathon shocking

I stick strictly to matress sports now, press up's and squat thrusts are best winks
Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !

Good man and well done!

I know quite a few people who are doing the half-marathons at the moment, and although they're fit as fk they're still finding that tough!

Did you hit 'the wall'?
Who needs tyres when you've got knees!!

The dreaded wall came at about 20 miles.............up to then I had been doing 13 minute miles in fact for a while I was doing 10 miles comfortably.................at 20 miles I was just a few seconds over 13 minute miles but it got really tough from there.

I ended up on something like 13:31 per mile
