Newbie with ZXR400 Issue

Post by jay »

Hi Guys!!

New to the site, have just passed my test (last Friday) Bought a jewel violet ZXR400 on an M plate in July and have finally been able to go out on it. Its pretty rapid compared to the slow 500's I was on when I did my DAS.

Anyway, When riding i can feel a clicking noise coming from the back wheel (i think) when over about 25mph. When I say noise, I can feel it and I'm not sure how loud it is due to my can. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? I cant hear it when just pushing the bike along. Need to get a paddock stand and have a good look but thought someone may have come across this problem before.

Cheers in advance, Jay

Could be a tight spot in the chain in which case youll need to check every link and make sure they move freely. Wheel bearing is a possibility, get the rear on a paddock stand and check for any movement. Theres also a bearing in the sprocket carrier, worth checking that too :smt001

yeah sounds like the chain and sprockets are worn.check also the front sprocket as that might be where the clicking is coming from. may be loose pads in the rear caliper sticking occasionally which suggests a warped disc.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.
