more trouble

Post by zxr400rider »

well got her finished and thought id have a cheeky ride, goes like f$%k, when i had the carbs apart i noticed they had 110 jets in is that good???. Trouble i noticed was when she gets red hot she starts to misfire but the temp doesnt get any higher than the first line on the guage. let her cool down and again shes fine till gets hot. also the speedo isnt working but other than that what a bike all for 330 plus about 120 in parts including servicing

i dont rele no about the running problem......does it have standard filter and exhaust?as 110 seems to big for standard so could be the cause.
speedo not working ...... more than likely the cable ..........check it at the front wheel see if its broken or make sure its connected up properly at the dash and wheel.

im not sure about the filter as i cant find a pic of a standard or k&n filter its mesh?? the exhaust is the beet end can on standard downpipes. i dont think the jets are the cause as it goes like hell with no flat spots just pulls. have got a little mayonaise but put that down to only being run in my garden and not being thrashed. at least i hope its not the headgasket. its not overheating and the fan is working and no coolant loss so far

ye need to take it out for a good run and get it hot and that should get rid of that in the oil.
standard air filter is just yellow foam.

so its got no airfilter in it?just the wire mesh inside the airbox?if so id be getting a filter for it........it should sit in a plastic cage at the front of the air box by the 'snorkel'.
possibly coils or leads breaking down but i would get the air filter and that sorted first.

Its probably getting red hot cos with no air filter its more than likely running really lean, so go easy or you will cook the engine. Weather that causes your backfiring im not sure. But as suggested get a foam filter put in and see how you go.

where would i get a k&n or pipercross filter from for her? or is it not worth it. i got a set of coils on the way from ebay to try. also when it starts to misfire the rev counter goes crazy but not like up and down on a car more haywire, hard to explain on the internet

k&n filers (don't know about pipercross) tend to need the snorkel removing and also would be a good idea for a dyno run to get it set up properly.
These things are sent to try us!!
